My first career was teaching. I’ve always liked kids, crazy, and creativity. And I definitely didn’t want to be stuck at a desk all day. I made career choices by listening to my gut. Gardening and flowers have run through my blood since I was little; one of my fondest memories is my dad, sketching and labeling different flowers for me on a long road trip. Saturdays meant yard work—we thought we hated it, but all three of us kids grew up to be gardeners in our own way. I love the labor, the constant evolution of plants, how nothing turns into something. I like turning dirt into a garden. I like making things. Especially if they are meaningful, and create memories.

Design is in my blood too, running through my veins alongside a catalog of flower names and my love for dirt. All my childhood hobbies led me to floral design—isn’t it funny how that works? The floor plans I drew in 4th grade when I wanted to be an architect; the puff-painted T-shirt business my BFF and I started in 6th grade. Something I just thought I’d do for a creative outlet has turned into a 16-year career, designing high-end weddings in one of the most spectacular and sought-after cities in the world. How lucky am I!

What drives my design: authenticity. Listening to the client. Doing something new, but not too trendy. Function. And also frivolity. Knowing when to make a statement, and when to chill out. And flowers, flowers, flowers.

I am also a wife and mom, a sister and daughter, a cat person, an outdoor enthusiast. A California girl. I eat too many sweets for a grown woman. I laugh too loud. I appreciate fashion, but I don’t care about clothes. I am passionate about work, but maintain family time and rest time as high priorities. Computers aren’t my favorite. Want to go on a hike sometime?
